PAUL SKENES SHARES BEST PHOTOS FROM JUNE INCLUDING OLIVIA DUNNE
June has been a busy month for Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes. Last year's top overall pick made five starts, and ended the month in impressive form.
He went 2-0 in those five games, posting an impressive 1.78 ERA and striking out 40 batters.
With the calendar turning over to July a few days ago, Skenes took some time to share a few photos from June on Instagram.
The Pirates star posted photos from several non-baseball moments over the last month, including a cruise on the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh with teammates Kyle Nicolas and Jared Jones.
He also included a few photos with his girlfriend and fellow former LSU sports star Olivia Dunne. Dunne has publicly supported Skenes since last year's College World Series run, appearing at multiple games to watch him pitch.
Like Skenes, Dunne has now won a national championship at LSU. She helped the Tigers take home their first gymnastics title in school history earlier this year, competing on the floor exercise and the uneven bars.
Skenes is the odds-on favorite to take home this year's National League Rookie of the Year award, and the future looks bright for the Pirates.
With other young talent like Oneil Cruz and Ke'Bryan Hayes on the roster, the team seems to be a few years away from breaking through, just like the Baltimore Orioles did after several top draft picks reached the major leagues.
Skenes will continue to be the focal point of the Pirates rebuild, and he's expected to be the ace of Pittsburgh's staff for the next several seasons.
We'll see how everything eventually turns out, but so far, Skenes and Dunne appear to be enjoying life in Pittsburgh.
