CHIEFS ROOKIE XAVIER WORTHY TOLD HIS AGENT TO TELL 31 NFL TEAMS HE DIDN'T WANT TO PLAY FOR THEM

It's safe to say Xavier Worthy had a huge smile on his face when the Kansas City Chiefs traded up to draft him on Thursday night.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, there was a point in the pre-draft process where Worthy wanted to tell the other 31 teams that he only wanted to play for the Chiefs.

Obviously, Worthy didn't inform teams that he only wanted to play for Kansas City. And yet, things worked out for him.

"He even suggested to his agent, 'Can we tell all 31 teams that the one place that I do want to go is Kansas City so I play with Patrick Mahomes.' It doesn't work like that, but in the end, it worked out like that," Schefter said

The Chiefs weren't the only team interested in Worthy, who had 75 receptions for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns last season. However, they clearly valued him higher than others.

Chiefs general manager Brett Veach expects Worthy to give their offense another element, which makes considering the Texas product broke the record for the fastest time in the 40-yard dash.

"It's a speed game and the more speed you have on the field, the harder it is for defenses to take away different elements of the game,'' Veach said. "Anytime you can add speed and add a guy with that type of versatility, I think you're going to be interested. Just our ability to play vertical and have speed on the field at all times and having Xavier and Hollywood ... I think as the season goes on here, I think we'll have just an offense that can attack in multiple different ways and always keep defenses guessing.''

Texas fans can't wait to see how Worthy performs now that he's teammates with Patrick Mahomes.
