KIRK COUSINS NOT HAPPY WITH ATLANTA FALCONS

Kirk Cousins has only been an official member of the Atlanta Falcons for a few weeks, but it sounds like he’s already pretty frustrated and unhappy with the team.

After signing Kirk Cousins to a four-year contract just last month, the Atlanta Falcons decided to select rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 overall pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday night. And it sounds like Cousins was not happy with the move.

Cousins’ agent, Mike McCartney told Pete Thamel of ESPN that Cousins was frustrated and confused by the team’s decision to draft Penix.

“Spoke to Mike McCartney, the agent for Kirk Cousins. He said the only heads up the Falcons gave Cousins about picking Michael Penix was a call while the team was on the clock. He’d just signed a four-year deal for $180 million, the first two of which are fully guaranteed,” Thamel said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“There’s inherent frustration and confusion from Cousins’ camp, as they didn’t use that pick to help the team in 2024. They instead drafted his eventual replacement before he’s put on a Falcons helmet,” Thamel said in a follow-up post.

It was certainly a surprising pick. We’ll have to see how it shakes out for the Falcons.
