PATRIOTS MOURN THE DEATH OF FORMER OFFENSIVE LINEMAN AT 28

The New England Patriots are mourning after the death of a former offensive lineman on Thursday.

Korey Cunningham, who played in New England for two seasons, was found dead in his home on Thursday in New Jersey.

The former lineman, who last appeared with the New York Giants, was only 28 years old.

"The New England Patriots are saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Korey Cunningham," the team said on Friday.

"We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Korey's family, teammates and all who mourn his loss."

Cunningham entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals back in 2018. He would spend one year in Arizona before heading to New England in a trade.

After his time with the Patriots, Cunningham joined the New York Giants in 2021 before a foot injury ended his career.

In total, he appeared in 31 games with six starts over five seasons, making his final NFL appearance with the Giants in 2022.

"We are saddened to hear of the passing of Korey Cunningham," the Giants said on Friday.

"He was a vital part of the spirit and camaraderie of the locker room. Our thoughts are with Korey’s family, friends and teammates."

Cunningham was well liked in his NFL stops, with Cardinals, Patriots and Giants players expressing sadness over his passing.

Cunningham played in 33 college games for the Cincinnati Bearcats, making 24 starts at left tackle as the program continued to find success in the latter part of the decade.

We send our condolences and best wishes to Cunningham's family and friends during this difficult time.
