ESPN ANNOUNCES IT HIRED NOTABLE NFL REPORTER

The NFL transaction wire slows down in the summer, but the league's media hot stove is always on.

On Monday, ESPN announced it has hired veteran NFL reporter Kalyn Kahler away from The Athletic, where she spent the last two seasons.

Kahler will serve as a national reporter covering the league for the Worldwide Leader

"So thankful for my two NFL seasons at @TheAthleticNFL, we did some awesome work. Next up for me: ESPN!!! Let’s gooooooooo!" Kahler tweeted after the news went public.

Prior to joining The Athletic, Kahler had stints with Defector, Bleacher Report and Sports Illustrated's Monday Morning Quarterback. Her work has also appeared in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

A 2015 graduate of Northwestern University, Kahler earned the 2021 Pro Football Writers of America’s award for enterprise/feature writing.

She's been receiving well-wishes from former and current colleagues throughout the day.

"You will crush it like you have for the last few years. Congratulations and enjoy the ride. You’re going to meet some incredible people who will change your life forever," said The Athletic's Dianna Russini, who also had a long run at ESPN.

"Congrats and welcome!" added ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

"Yessssssssssssssss!" chimed in ESPN's Mina Kimes.

Kahler is one of several hires ESPN has made for its NFL coverage this offseason. Most notably, the company brought in former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce to be part of its Monday Night Football programming.
