JUCO STANDOUT DIOR JOHNSON ANNOUNCES HIS COMMITMENT MONDAY

Dior Johnson's circuitous basketball journey took another turn on Monday.

The former five-star high school recruit committed to UCF this afternoon, according to Joe Tipton of On3 Sports. The 6-foot-2 Johnson spent last season at Clarendon Community College, where he averaged 29.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game while shooting 52% from the field and 41.7% from three-point range.

Today's announcement makes four Division I programs Johnson has committed to over the years; so far, he's yet to play for any of them.

At one time the No. 1 point guard recruit in the 2022 class, Johnson originally committed to Syracuse in February 2020 before reopening his recruitment nine months later.

He then committed to Oregon in June 2021, but ultimately flipped to Pittsburgh one year later. Johnson enrolled at Pitt, but never suited up for the Panthers following his December 2022 guilty plea on misdemeanor charges of simple assault and strangulation.

Johnson left Pitt following the 2022-23 school year and enrolled at Clarendon College in Texas. His numbers show he had a strong season in the JUCO ranks, and the Kingston, N.Y. native has the recruiting pedigree to believe he can succeed at the D1 level.

Unfortunately, Johnson also has flightiness and legal issues in his history. Before he changed his mind multiple times about his college choice and got into trouble at Pittsburgh, Johnson spent time in five different high schools.
